The

“all in one” appliance. It can replace 9 other kitchen

Freeze, Cook, Hash, Crush, Mince, Dice, Mill, Puree and much
more” according to Blendtec’s advertising and

The total
blender can make milkshakes, soups, margaritas, salsas and
more. And, it can make bread dough. The blender
has a patented two prong stainless steel blade and a 3HP
direct drive motor. The blade and coupling have a
lifetime warranty. The motor and base have a three
year warranty. Blendtec’s patented square blending jar
holds is available in two sizes and has a one year
warranty. The square jar comes in a 32 ounce size and
a three quart size that has four blades. With 1560 watts of
power the blender can crush ice and has an “Ice Crushing
Guarantee”. The total blender has touchpad
control. It is designed with “Smart Touch
Technology”. It has preprogrammed cycles that are set
to speed up and slow down when needed and to stop when
finished. This is designed to make recipes “turn out
perfect every time”.
In August
2007, Consumer Reports published “First Look: Blendtec Total
Blender”. In their report, Consumer Reports stated,
“This blender can handle a range of jobs, but it’s one noisy
expensive machine”. The price was $399.95 and is still
$399.95. Consumer Reports said, “When it’s working at
full speed, this blender is extremely noisy—it’s so loud, in
fact, that we recommend you wear ear protection during
use. The price is equally elevated.” They
further stated, “…the price and earsplitting results in our
noise tests might make you reconsider whether this is the
right blender for you—unless you need to regularly pulverize
baseballs or plungers.” Customer reviews, also,
mention the noise level. Most customers agree,
however, that the noise is to be expected with that much
power. Most people say that they don’t mind, because it
works so well. Consumer Reports agrees that the total
blender works very well. They just have a problem with
the noise level and the price. In conclusion,
apparently, the total blender is a “high ticket”, very loud
blender that works great.
This is a
good example of the reason that researching for information
on the internet is important, before making major
purchases. Gathering some facts about the
product or item is extremely helpful in the decision making
process. Searching on Google, Amazon, Yahoo, etc. will
provide a wealth of facts and information.
